Mac OS X Application: iCal - Invitation Error

2008.06.04

I’m not sure what’s happening, but I cannot accept invitations from two sources: MicroSoft-generated .ics files AND Mac OS X iCal-generated .ics files. Both versions have come through as email attachments (in Apple’s Mail app) and were added to the iCal Notifications tray, as is expected.

But when I click on the notifiaction, I get an alert or alarm box saying:

Invitation Error

To be able to use invitations, you need to create an address card for yourself in Mac OS X Address Book.

[Cancel] [Clear Notification] [Open Address Book]

Clicking [Cancel] does nothing.

Clicking [Clear Notification] removes the invite from the Notifications tray, permanently.

Clicking [Open Address Book] opens Apple’s Address Book application, with a new card that is formatted with the name from the email that the invite was sent to.

I completed this card, saved it. Then closed, reopened Address Book to ensure it was still there. Then closed it. Then, I [Cancel] the alert box, and tried to click the invite in the Notification. No luck. Same alert box. I closed and reopened iCal. Same problem.

Does anyone know how to get iCal’s invitation manager to recognize my vcard in the Address Book??
